Taking Tech Expertise on Honeywell's TFE731 Engine to the Next Level

Honeywell Field Service Engineer Clark Rodgers has become the first Master Technician certified on the TFE731 turbofan engine. The premier Master Technician program is both a first for Rodgers and a first-of-its-kind learning program for Honeywell.

It builds on the renown of FlightSafety International as a leader in aviation maintenance training and fuses learning excellence with Honeywell’s technical expertise. The resulting synergy gives participants such as Rodgers an unprecedented level of learning and industry-leading credentials.

Rodgers, who has 35 years of experience in the aviation industry, is co-located with Flexjet near Dallas and provides Honeywell Aerospace technical support as a Field Service Product Specialist on Honeywell’s TFE and CFE engines.

“One of the benefits of this certification for students and the industry is that it takes training to the next level on the TFE731 engine,” Rodgers said. “With courses including fan balancing, TFE updates, and troubleshooting, it gives anyone working with the engine the opportunity to be as current as possible with what they may see in the field every day.”

As Honeywell’s first Master Technician training program with FlightSafety International on its products, the TFE731 engine certification is open to customers, authorized channel partners, and select Honeywell field engineers who operate and support the engine.

The program curriculum is the result of collaboration between Honeywell and FlightSafety International. It combines intensive classroom and hands-on work in five targeted study areas to reflect the latest learning and experience with the engine.

By going beyond the basics of Line Maintenance and Intermediate training courses, Master Technician instruction develops further expertise so those who maintain, troubleshoot and support TFE731 engines can keep their aircraft flying worldwide. Honeywell may work with FlightSafety to expand Master Technician offerings to other engines and programs in the future.

The certification typically is completed over two years, with courses varying in length from days to a few weeks. Participants must score 90% or higher to attain Master Technician status.

FlightSafety International offers Master Technician certification for the aviation industry in the specialized areas of airframe, avionics, composites, engines, and management, and has certified more than 4,500 aviation professionals with the designation worldwide.
