Polar Aviation Lights Up the North

Polar Aviation Lights Up the North

Strategically located in Helsinki, Finland, the appropriately named Polar Aviation is providing Honeywell customers with a stellar service across Northern Europe, Russia and beyond.

Throughout history, Helsinki has provided diplomats, businessmen and traders with a unique gateway between East and West. This remains the case today. While Finland enjoys the benefits of European Union membership, its proximity to Russia enables Polar Aviation to provide logistical support and manpower to serve the business aviation community in Russia. In fact, in addition to the Helsinki facility, Polar Aviation also operates a line maintenance station in Moscow and base maintenance station in St. Petersburg

Polar Aviation is one of the leading maintenance facilities in Europe – with a broad range of capabilities including business jets, commercial airliners and helicopters across their 4400sqm state-of-the-art facility. It is also the only MRO facility to capitalize on the 24-hour flight operations at Helsinki International Airport – meaning critical spares can be received from OEM’s and other suppliers and shipped on to support AOG and other situations without delay.  As Hanna Hakamo, CEO of Polar Aviation explains, “We have a unique and proven concept to support AOG cases in Europe and especially in Russia. We can dispatch our Go-Team and spare parts wherever the help is needed”

Wim Melyn, Airworthiness Manager at Abelag Aviation (Luxaviation Belgium) relies on this capability, “To have Polar Aviation in Helsinki is very important to us because of course it’s the gateway to Russia for us. As a European client, we use their logistical knowledge and their manpower to solve AOG situations in Russia in a very timely manner to avoid any impact on the flight schedule”.

Polar Aviation is an authorized avionics dealer and a Honeywell APU and Engine Line Maintenance facility for the 36- 100/150 & RE100/220 APUs and the TFE731 engine. As Topi Kallio, Maintenance Director at Polar explains, “being a Honeywell partner really helps us to support our customers from nose to tail. This includes avionics, cabin and entertainment systems, connectivity solutions, engines and auxiliary power units. We are very proud to be a Honeywell partner. We can offer solutions to our customers quickly. It's a real partnership.”

Polar Aviation is also a Dassault Service Center and this is certainly seen as a benefit to Wim Melyn, from Abelag Aviation, “The support we receive from Polar Aviation exceeds the expectations we have as an approved service center not only for Honeywell but also Dassault. They provide really tailor-made solutions in unscheduled situations and out-of-the-box thinking solutions when required.”
