In-flight Connectivity – It’s All About the Software

In-flight Connectivity – It’s All About the Software

The age of connectivity is powered by great software. After all it’s software that breathes life into the many devices that keep us constantly connected in our homes, workplaces, cars, public places and even airplane cabins. Combining great software and hardware is as much about art as science.

For example, Honeywell’s Routing Software takes in-flight connectivity to the next level when it’s installed on the GoDirect or CNX-900 onboard routers. Together, our software and hardware helps business jet operators deliver a better overall passenger experience and open the door to the full range of Honeywell Forge cabin connectivity services, data analytics and flight services and applications.

Honeywell’s Routing Software provides flight departments with the ability to manage data use in a number of different ways. For example, it can segregate data traffic between the cockpit and cabin, creating a better-connected experience for both flight crews and passengers. The software also enables operators to dedicate bandwidth to one or several passengers, providing an enhanced experience for principals, passengers and crew when it’s needed.

In addition, Honeywell’s Routing Software lets operators see the connected status of all devices onboard and determine how data is being used by airtime service, device or category of traffic, which helps manage data use and cost. Finally, the routing software includes features to enhance cybersecurity and protect data moving on and off the airplane.

Honeywell’s Routing Software is an important element of the integrated portfolio of our Honeywell Forge services, features and applications. Honeywell Forge helps business aviation operators manage data use and cost, access flight planning and flight efficiency services, and provide operations team members with the information they need to do their jobs.

Version 10.5 of the Routing Software is currently available free for operators flying with the GoDirect or CNX-900 routers. Check with your Honeywell representative for more information.
