Field Service Engineers – Americas

GORDON “TONY” CARTLAND

Senior Field Service Engineer, Deer Valley/Glendale, Arizona

Tony got into aviation in the U.S. Navy after high school. He was inspired by the training and experiences as well as the comradery, friendships and common pursuits with others enjoying the same type of work. Today he remains a guy who will stop to look up at anything flying and smile because he is part of it.

He takes particular satisfaction in sharing the knowledge he’s gained over 40 years with customers and peers, acting as a partner to give the same commitment he’d desire if needing assistance. He feels very fortunate that his hobby, passion and career aligned so he could pursue what makes him happiest.

Tony has broad experience from legacy product displays and computers to current processor and display and interface systems, with skills in RF technologies for radars and radios in both military and commercial applications. He has worked in Quality, Manufacturing, Test Engineering, Product Development and Organizational Designated Airworthiness Representative roles.

In addition to his Navy service, Tony retired from the U.S. Air Force. In 2013 he received the Presidential Gold Award for Volunteerism for his Naval Sea Cadet Corps Unit work. He studied Professional Aeronautics and Aviation Maintenance Technology at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and is a Six Sigma Green Belt.

He holds a private pilot’s license, an Airframes and General Mechanic license and is a certified open water diver. His hobbies include aircraft restoration, scuba diving, youth development and education, and volunteering to provide veteran support.
