Field Service Engineers – Americas

BILL NELSON

Senior Field Service Engineer, Flight Management Systems Technical Core Team Leader, Deer Valley, Arizona

In Bill’s view, “Even a bad day in aviation is still pretty darn good!” As a Lead Field Service Engineer (FSE), he works directly with BGA and D&S customers on a wide variety of issues, including deploying to address log-term aircraft discrepancies. He’s a specialist on virtually every BGA avionics product Honeywell produces, specializing in BGA Flight Management Systems.

Bill delves deeper into technical issues, serving as the team’s Technical Core Team Leader since 2014, working complex problems on Deer Valley Simulators and Deer Valley Flight Operations aircraft.

Bill began his career in aviation with the U.S. Marine Corps, maintaining radar systems on what he considers the finest aircraft to ever grace the skies – the McDonnell Douglas F4 Phantom. That beginning has led him on a 35-year tour in 26 countries on five continents with just about everything that flies – from jet fighters to attack helicopters and large commercial aircraft.

He holds a private pilot’s license, speaks German, is IPC 610 ACC solder-certified and holds a Six Sigma Green Belt. He spends his free time flying, working on home renovations and restoring classic American muscle cars.
