The largest emergency air medical service provider in the U.S. is upgrading its fleet with the Honeywell Sky Connect Tracker III satellite communications and helicopter tracking system.
The Honeywell system will let Air Methods use voice and text to stay in touch with pilots, track the location of helicopters anywhere in the world and collect critical flight monitoring information, which is an FAA mandate for emergency medical service providers.
"There's a real need to enhance safety and operational efficiency for helicopter operators and Honeywell is leveraging its experience to bring a new connected experience for passengers, pilots and operators to rotorcraft," said Rick Angelo, strategic marketing director, Commercial Helicopters, for Honeywell. "Sky Connect Tracker III does this and more, giving Air Methods a robust connectivity solution for their fleet of emergency service helicopters that provides access to talk, text, data and flight data monitoring services, all in one box."
Honeywell will upgrade Air Methods existing Sky Connected Tracker II units as needed and provide the company with monthly satellite communications services.
The Sky Connect Tracker system gives helicopter operators and fleet managers a full suite of products, in one box, to keep their fleet connected and safe. Providing phone and text services, the Sky Connect Tracker system gives pilots the ability to stay in touch in remote places with no available cell reception through the Iridium satellite network.
