Kent Morris Field Service Engineer - Avionics, Slidell, Louisiana
Long fascinated by airplanes, Kent followed the path to military aviation by joining the Marine Corps. He has over 30 years’ experience in avionics on USMC AH1 and UH1 Cobra/Huey and CH53 helicopters, the McDonnell MD80/90 and MD11, and Falcon, Cessna and Hawker aircraft. Currently the focal for incoming Boeing FMS issues, his knowledge, troubleshooting and operation experience covers Sky Connect Tracker and MMU IIs products, EGPWS MK V, VI, VII, VIII, XXI and XXII products and associated TDB loading, NZ2000/GNS FMS products and NavDB loading, TCAS, Weather Radar, FDR, CVR and ADCs.
He was trained at the Naval Aviation Training Center and Fullerton College, with classes at Honeywell and Rockwell Collins. He was the 2002 Avionics Technician of the Year and received Global Technical Operations’ Unsung Hero Award in 2013.
His FAA Repairman Certificate was twice held at Certified Repair Stations and he holds a FCC General Radiotelephone Operators License.
Hot rods are his hobby, primarily Pontiac muscle cars from the 1960s and ’70s, especially GTOs.
