The Meteor Single Board Computer (SBC) has the performance that modern applications need while providing the reliability required for the space environment in a low power cPCI form factor to tackle the most complex satellite bus control needs. Meteor uses a radiation-tolerant E2V MPC8548-based processor that includes a mature software development environment combined with a VxWorks board support package (BSP). The Meteor’s MPC8548 processor runs at 1.66GHz and includes 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM, 1 GB Flash memory, 2 SpaceWire ports and 4-lane 3.125 Gbps/lane Serial Rapid IO interfaces for maximum performance and control.
Three categories of SBCs are available including lab-based software development units, engineering development units and flight units. Honeywell also has a Meteor Simics model available for software development on a cost-effective virtual platform. Hardware testing and radiation characterization has been performed on all critical components.
