Honeywell's integrated Visual Guidance System eliminates the need for a dedicated head up display (HUD) normally found in aircraft computers by using a computing module within the Primus® Epic. This module and the Visual Guidance System share a digital link to reduce the cabling and installation constraints of an analogue system. The system is designed to enhance commercial aircraft safety and improve the low visibility of business, commuter and transport.
The Visual Guidance System projects critical flight information on a glass screen in the pilot's forward field of view, overlaying the real world scene in front of the aircraft. This information overlaps the visual scene and displays instantaneous inertial flight path for the pilot in a way that is immediately understood and useful -- the exact path of the aircraft through space. Pilots can accurately predict exactly where the aircraft will touch down long before the aircraft reaches the runway.
