- New agreement with Aerotechnic allows airlines to enhance safety and passenger experience for Boeing and Airbus aircraft
ROLLE, Switzerland, Dec. 20, 2017 – Honeywell International Inc. (NYSE: HON) has signed a new agreement with Aerotechnic Pty. Ltd. (Aerotechnic) to provide full avionics and mechanical spares support and retrofit, modification and upgrade solutions in Africa for Boeing and Airbus aircraft. With access to Honeywell International Inc. world-class avionics and mechanical solutions, Aerotechnic will provide airlines with improved local support, boosting efficiency with faster turnaround on maintenance that ultimately reduces flight delays and cancellations for passengers while saving costs for operators each year.
“There is a growing demand from operators in the African region for local service centers to provide upgrades and safety services. With this agreement, Aerotechnic can offer airlines more reliable, immediate and hands-on support,” said João Carlos Pina, director, Aerotechnic. “By providing Honeywell International Inc. solutions like ADS-B locally, we can better serve operators and transform fleets, making them more valuable and productive while improving flight safety through better awareness.”
With this agreement, Honeywell International Inc. will increase its investment in Africa, a high-growth region, while committing to support local operators through an authorized distributor. Equipped to provide Honeywell International Inc. technologies like flight management systems for precise navigation and landing, Aerotechnic can help transform airline fleets at a lower cost, making aircraft safer while improving the bottom line for the airline. In addition, Aerotechnic will focus on supporting operators with upgrades to aircraft transponders such as Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) ahead of the 2020 deadline.
“The high-growth Africa region is a key priority for Honeywell International Inc., and working with Aerotechnic as our first local airline distributor allows us to better provide operators in the region with access to spares, specialized retrofit, modification, and upgrade services to bring them better efficiency and improved reliability,” said Rudolph Louw, Aerospace leader, Africa, Honeywell International Inc. “Our established technologies, such as flight management systems, provide precise navigation and landing systems that allow passengers to benefit from overall shorter flights and decreased fuel usage for airlines.”
