Honeywell Aerospace Names First Executive Leader in Africa

Rudolph Louw to lead the company’s regional growth drive

Rudolph LouwPRETORIA, South Africa, Sept. 14, 2016 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) has appointed Rudolph Louw as its first Aerospace business group leader in Africa. In this role, Louw will work to expand Honeywell’s footprint across commercial aviation and defense and space divisions, and identify opportunities to improve aviation safety and efficiency with partners.

Louw has extensive experience in business operations and project and program management, alongside strong leadership expertise. Previously, he worked with Witwatersrand University to develop centers of excellence in national aerospace and systems engineering, and before that helped set up the Boeing International offices covering Southern and Eastern Africa, working with Boeing’s commercial, defense, and space and technology divisions. These experiences have provided Louw with essential regional knowledge that will allow him to continue building key relationships with regional organizations to meet Africa’s aerospace needs today and in the future.

“We recognize there is steady growth in the African market, which in turn places huge demands on air traffic and safety services,” said James Bryson, EMEAI president, Honeywell Aerospace. “Honeywell’s breadth and depth of product ranges teamed with its trusted reputation will provide local jobs, skills and technology support across the continent, while improving aviation safety through aftermarket services.

“As we expand Honeywell’s existing footprint in Africa, Rudolph’s leadership embraces our firm commitment to the region by formally establishing our Aerospace business,” said Sean Smith, president, Honeywell Africa. “The new appointment allows us to engage intimately with our customers, better understand their goals and desires, and further build on these very important relationships.”

Louw has a strong academic background, and his qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in military science from Stellenbosch University, South Africa; a second bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering; and a master’s degree in engineering management from University of Pretoria.
