Honeywell’s Aspire 200 Satellite Communications system received supplemental type certification (STC) from EASA for installation on the AW139 helicopter from Leonardo, marking the first STC for the system in Europe, covering both the short-nose and long-nose configurations of the airframe. Honeywell had previously secured the FAA certification.
The Honeywell Aspire 200 solution, with includes the High-Data Rate (HDR) software package, solves the problem of rotorblades interrupting the satellite signal, to bring high-speed, high-bandwidth service and Wi-Fi capabilities to the helicopter. And the combination of Honeywell’s hardware and GoDirect Cabin Connectivity service brings new functionalities to the operator.
Honeywell is working on several more FAA and EASA certifications with the Aspire 200 hardware on other platforms to be announced in the coming months. Stay tuned to aerospace.honeywell.com for more information.
