AirAsia will install JetWave hardware enabling GX Aviation service to bring high-speed inflight Wi-Fi to their customers. AirAsia announced that the airline will be working with Honeywell and Inmarsat at Aircraft Interiors Expo 2017 to upgrade its ROKKI onboard Wi-Fi offering to the latest global Ka-band connectivity service. Honeywell’s JetWave hardware will be installed on AirAsia Group's Airbus A320 and A330 fleets, subject to final contracts.
“Honeywell and Inmarsat’s global Ka-band technology is the best solution for AirAsia’s routes. The airline travels over a diverse landscape of islands, oceans and land, and needs a reliable high-speed satellite network that provides the same consistent passenger experience wherever they fly,” says Brian Davis, vice president, Asia Pacific Sales, Honeywell Aerospace. “That network is GX Aviation; the only service available today that can satisfy that requirement.”
The installation of Honeywell’s JetWave hardware for the AirAsia’s aircraft is expected to commence this year, with the service to go live in 2018.
