Honeywell Brings HUMS Benefits to Brazil

Helicopter usage has really taken off in Latin America. In fact, Honeywell’s 2016 Turbine Helicopter Purchase Outlook found that Latin American operators continue to have the world’s most aggressive helicopter acquisition plans, with Brazilian operators leading the way.

As the helicopter community grows, so does the need for innovative solutions that help operators improve safety, reduce operating and maintenance costs, and accomplish their missions. In Brazil and across Latin America, leading operators are embracing condition-based maintenance strategies and using leading-edge technologies like Honeywell’s Health and Usage Monitoring System (HUMS) to accomplish these and other objectives.

The National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil recently granted a Supplemental Type Certificate for installation of Honeywell’s onboard VXP system on some of the country’s most popular helicopter models, including the Bell 206L, 206L-3 and 206L-4 and the Airbus H-145 (MBB-BK117C-1/C-2). These extensions, now with the newly granted ANAC certification, bring the pedigree of Honeywell’s onboard VXP solutions to Brazilian operators.

HUMS sales and installation Information can be provided by Diagnostic Solutions Inc., a Honeywell channel partner with decades of HUMS experience and an authorized distributor in Brazil. VXP is easy to install and operators can begin realizing benefits immediately.

Today’s advanced HUMS monitor the health of vibrating and rotating components and record the operational context of events so that flight and maintenance crews can analyze trends and perform condition-based maintenance.

HUMS can also use advanced diagnostic capabilities to predict not only whether but when a critical aircraft component is likely to fail. HUMS provide a variety of features including exceedance monitoring, regime recognition, advanced diagnostics and advanced rotor, track and balance capabilities.

HUMS also offer new levels of connectivity, enabling real-time aircraft health status and alerts to be transmitted to ground crews using Honeywell’s Sky Connect Tracker technology. We also offer mobility solutions for troubleshooting and diagnostics, using new mobile applications.
