Qatar Airways made aviation history on the first passenger flight of the A350 XWB. In case you didn’t catch the exclusive event, CNN’s Richard Quest was on board for its maiden voyage and highlights what makes this aircraft a high-flying-success:
While the A350 XWB offers significant benefits to airlines and passengers alike, Qatar Airways has made headlines by expanding further on its five-star experience. In a recent announcement from OnAir, Qatar Airways will line fit the next generation of connectivity services using Inmarsat’s global Ka-band network. What this means for passengers is access to broadband internet while 30,000 ft in the air.
Honeywell announced an exclusive partnership with Inmarsat for in-flight broadband service, available exclusively on the Ka-band network. The satellite system is designed for reliability and does so by minimizing crossovers where the signal jumps from one satellite to the next (see coverage map). This means you will get a seamless experience in the air, all around the world.
Qatar Airways continues to redefine the airline industry with the adoption of both the A350 XWB and the incorporation of the most advanced in-flight connectivity solution in the world. Honeywell is honored to play a small part in the high-flying success of the A350 XWB and Qatar Airways. We look forward to the new possibilities this new milestone will bring.
