Zurich, Switzerland - Germanwings is taking an important step in further improving its fuel efficiency. The German airline, part of the Lufthansa group, has signed a contract and is currently implementing the comprehensive fuel conservation solution from Switzerland-based Aviaso. Germanwings has selected the software from Aviaso in order to receive more transparency in fuel usage and lower the overall fuel consumption.
"We, as a young and innovative airline, have always had a focus on fuel efficiency", says Matthias Spohr, Fuel Manager and Head of fleet at Germanwings. "A lot of documentation is available on the topic of fuel conservation and we have introduced most of the recommended initiatives. However, we were faced with the challenge to really understand how we are using our fuel. To get the transparency and to be able to identify and quantify fuel savings, we started to evaluate several fuel efficiency software solutions. Summarized, Germanwings has selected Aviaso as its fuel efficiency software provider, since Aviaso is sharing the same core strengths as our airline - innovation and flexibility."
The fuel efficiency software from Aviaso includes more than 100 ready-made analysis reports. These reports allow an airline to thoroughly understand its fuel consumption and to identify potential fuel savings. Furthermore, the Aviaso solution not only identifies the fuel savings, but also helps to really achieve these savings by rigorously monitoring the various fuel savings initiatives for each and every flight.
