Pilots from airlines around the world were given the unique opportunity to evaluate the EGTS™ Taxiing System during the recent “Pilot Days” in Toulouse.
Honeywell and Safran joint venture EGTS International offered 30 pilots an exclusive test drive of an A320 equipped with the EGTS electric taxiing system prototype. The event gave pilots an early opportunity to evaluate the operational advantages of EGTS by testing the prototype in real runway conditions. Each pilot had the opportunity to put EGTS through of series of maneuvers such as breakaway, reverse taxiing and tight turns, all conducted with the main engines turned off.
Pilots highlighted the system’s flexibility and responsiveness, its intuitive operation and of course its environmental benefits. The event also provided the EGTS teams from Honeywell and Safran with invaluable feedback from the pilots in terms of system design and operation, reinforcing the strong operational and market interest in the system.
