Honeywell HTS900 Engine Rolls Out on New Marenco Swisshelicopter Prototype

November 29, 2013

At a recent press conference Marenco Swisshelicopter officially launched the prototype of its new single-engine helicopter to the world. The SKYe SH09 was revealed to a select group of invited guests on Thursday 28th November at Mollis Airport in Switzerland. Honeywell’s HTS900 is the power-plant for the new helicopter and we were proud to attend the event as a partner on this exciting project.

The HTS900 engine enables the SKYe SH09 the ability to fly faster, further and more fuel efficiently than other engines in its class. With exceptional hot and high performance and a maximum take-off weight of 2,650kg (5,842lbs), a fast cruise speed of 260 km/h (140 knots) and a very long range – in excess of 800km (430 nautical miles) with standard fuel tanks – the HTS900 builds on Honeywell’s strong heritage in helicopter engine technology. This advanced engine technology complements the broader design of the SKYe SH09 helicopter and together they offer operators a truly ground breaking offering for the helicopter community.

The extended team at both Honeywell and Marenco Swisshelicopter have worked closely to ensure the engine integration into the prototype has been completed smoothly. Mike Madsen, President at Honeywell Aerospace comments,

“This is an exciting time for our engine and the SKYe SH09 helicopter as we transition into the roll out and testing phase of the program. We look forward to many more successful events such as this one as we progress.”
