Russ Formica Senior Field Service Engineer, Denver, Colorado
The Army introduced Russ to aviation, leading to stints as a Helicopter Mechanic, Gunship Crew Chief and Helicopter Inspector (UH-1D, H, M, OH-58A & Cobra). Those positions honed the skills he uses at Honeywell, particularly in the propulsion TFE 731 family. He’s been licensed as an Airframe and Powerplant mechanic since 1978.
He also loves to train peers and customers as he performs his Field Service Engineer duties, and relishes being a problem solver. In his view, the more complicated the problem, the better.
Russ considers safety “always my primary concern.” As for his philosophy of customer support, it’s simple: Represent the customer’s issues and views to Honeywell and, in turn, represent Honeywell’s views to the customer.
Educated through trade school and civilian and military training, Russ also has taken courses related to his work as a volunteer firefighter. He advanced to the rank of Assistant Chief before retiring in 2015.
He’s been recognized with a variety of awards from his peers, managers and external customers. In his spare time, his hobbies include riding motorcycles and shooting.
