How Honeywell Keeps Business Aviation Flying High: Modernizing Business Jets With the Latest Cockpit Technology

October 27, 2016 | Author: Mike Beazley

Honeywell has been providing leading cockpit and mechanical technologies for more than 100 years. When you have so many customers in the field, it’s important to listen and respond quickly to the market and operator needs.

What we’re seeing and hearing is that aircraft purchase plans are growing, although slowly, so while the market for new purchases is still bouncing back, operators need to extend the life of current fleets through upgrades.

Whether it’s a simple, new plug-and-play LCD display or software updates that can give legacy aircraft the newest in synthetic vision systems, we are helping our customers increase aircraft value and functionality while they save time and money.

Honeywell makes that easy. Honeywell upgrades not only add value to aircraft, while modernizing it, they also allow operators to plan ahead to the 2020 mandates without hassle. Moreover, our strong global network of aftermarket partners and our ongoing collaboration to offer new Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) for the latest technologies makes it easier than ever for operators to keep their aircraft modern.

What are the latest cockpit, software and protection plan upgrades?

Primus Elite Advanced Features (PEAF) upgrades are now available to increase crew situational awareness through the integration of synthetic vision, Traffic Collision Avoidance System symbology and XM ground-based weather information to the Moving Map Display.

Synthetic Vision System

Honeywell’s Synthetic Vision System improves the flight crew’s situational awareness by providing a large, 3-D color synthetic image of the outside world to enhance safety and efficiency in low-visibility environments like landing in fog, clouds, snow, rain and more. This game-changing technology is now available for upgrade as a part of PEAF and other programs for multiple aircraft types. It’s no coincidence that synthetic vision systems has firmly established itself as one of the best safety features a business jet can have.

CD-830To enhance visibility of critical flight information in the cockpit, Honeywell is bringing high-resolution touchscreen displays to older aircraft with the CD-830 control display unit on Falcon 900 aircraft.

Honeywell has supported 100 legacy software versions over the past several decades. To evolve with the changing nature of a flight management system (FMS) and continue to provide the highest level of support, Honeywell will be consolidating support for FMS 6.1 software upgrades by the end of 2018.

Honeywell Avionics Protection Plan, a maintenance service program covering more than 50 different business aviation platforms, will now support helicopter operators. New fixed pricing and discounts to operators upgrading to ADS-B Out, Primus Elite and Honeywell Ovation™ Select cabin management system are available.

We are excited to talk to operators about how we can help them get the latest cockpit technologies onto their planes. NBAA visitors can go to Honeywell’s Booth 2200 to learn more about how we’re helping business aviation stay up-to-date and cost-effective.
