Technology Made in India for India and the World

With more than 15,000 Honeywell employees in 50 cities, it should be clear that we are a strong supporter of the “Make in India” initiative. Launched in 2014, the initiative is intended to build India’s domestic capabilities and create jobs in 25 key economic sectors – one of which is aerospace.

Make in India aligns extremely well with Honeywell’s global approach to engineering and technology development, manufacturing, and customer support. We have a strong and talented global workforce, positioned throughout the world in high growth regions, near our customers and in locations where we can unleash the innovative spirit that is so much a part of the Honeywell Aerospace culture.

India is a cornerstone of Honeywell’s global growth story. India’s first oil and gas refinery was commissioned more than 80 years ago using Honeywell technologies, and as we have grown so has both the size and importance of our Indian operations.

The number of Honeywell employees in India has expanded from about 1,000 to 15,000 people since 2002. More than 6,000 Indian engineers work on innovative technologies every day, helping tackle some of India’s and indeed the world’s toughest challenges in energy efficiency, safety, security, and customer productivity. We have five engineering and technology development centers and seven manufacturing facilities in the country. More than 3,000 products, solutions and applications have been engineered in India. We have formed partnerships with some of India’s leading industrial companies, including Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and TATA Power Strategic Engineering Division. And we’re working closely with the Indian Ministry of Defense, which is considering our F125IN turbine engine for the Jaguar re-engining program.

As impressive as these figures are, the impact of our Indian operations on Honeywell and the aerospace industry cannot be expressed in numbers alone. Indian employees are critical contributors to many of our company’s leading-edge technologies that are advancing the science of flight and meeting the needs of Honeywell customers everywhere in the world.

Honeywell technologies developed and manufactured in India contribute to national defense and homeland security, improve the safety and efficiency of commercial and business aviation, and help mankind explore and use the final frontier of space.

From next-generation avionics and flight safety systems, to technologies that will improve the efficiency of air traffic management in India and elsewhere, to the efficient TPE331 turboprop engine and TALIN Inertial Navigation System, manufactured in India in partnership with Tata Power SED – Honeywell products are being made in India, by Indians, for India and the rest of the world.
