Honeywell: Committed to Serving Latin American Operators

Marcos Carvalho recently joined Honeywell Aerospace as Customer Business Manager for Latin America. Based in Brazil, Carvalho has more than three decades of helicopter experience. We asked him to share some thoughts on his background and Honeywell’s profile in this high growth region.

I first became involved with helicopters when I worked part time at Helibras, a subsidiary of Airbus Helicopters, while attending engineering school in the early 1980s. I joined the company full time after graduation in 1985.

My first job was working as a mechanical engineer on the production line for the AStar A350 helicopter. I also worked in production planning and sales during my 26-year career at Helibras. In addition, I worked in Brazilian operations of Robinson Helicopters and AgustaWestland. The variety of my assignments gave me the opportunity to learn many facets of the helicopter business from the aircraft manufacturer’s perspective and to build relationships across the industry that continue through today.

I’m determined to put my experience to work to meet the needs of Honeywell customers in Brazil and across the region. At the recent Latin American Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition (LABACE), I had the chance to meet many Honeywell operators and renew acquaintances with old friends from across the Latin American helicopter community.

We had excellent traffic at the Honeywell/BendixKing booth at LABACE and we welcomed the opportunity to talk about what we offer helicopter operators in Latin America to help improve safety and efficiency and reduce costs. Here are some examples:

  • Our LTS101 is available to replace the standard engine on the AStar A350 helicopter. Honeywell is the leader in propulsion engines for commercial turbine helicopters. The LTS101 provides excellent value for operators because it offers improved performance, increased power, easier maintenance, better fuel economy and lower lifecycle operating costs than the baseline engine. (The photos were taken at Rotorwest, one of our prospects for the LTS101 retrofit.)
  • The Honeywell avionics protection plan (HAPP) is a great way for operators to manage their repair and maintenance costs and avoid surprises. All Honeywell avionics systems on the helicopter are covered by a low annual fee and you have the assurance that only comes from Honeywell factory-authorized repair services.
  • Whether you fly a single helicopter or a fleet, you need to track your aircraft 24/7. Honeywell can help. Regardless of the mission, Honeywell’s satellite-based Sky Connect® Tracker technology can help you keep an eye on your assets.
  • Our satellite communications technology including the Aspire satellite communication system transmit and receive voice and data communications during all types of operations. These kinds of systems are well-suited to the needs of Brazilian operators. Brazil is a large country with vast regions that are remote, austere and sparsely populated, creating challenging conditions for our customers.

Honeywell is well-known in Latin America for its superior avionics and mechanical helicopter technology and – just as importantly – for its commitment to providing the best customer service and support in the industry. There is a level of quality and responsiveness that only Honeywell can provide.

If there’s ever anything we at Honeywell Aerospace can do to help you achieve your mission, please contact your Customer Service Representative or reach out to me directly by email or +55 11 99185-0584.
